Wisteria

Wisteria is said to be the most ancient flower in Japan and is even mentioned in the Manyoshu (The Anthology of Myriad Leaves).

It is a noble flower used as the samurai warriors' family crest in the Heian period (794-1185).
In Japan, wisteria is at its best in May, so it's the seasonal kanzashi of Maiko.

In this Lesson, we will make a wisteria kanzashi that is smaller than a maiko kanzashi.
