Momiji for Japanese
"Momiji" is the Japanese maple of Autumn. Changing colors from green to yellow and red is beautiful scenery for people in Japan.
During the season, people go for autumn leaf viewing and we call it "Momiji-gari". Momiji-gari (autumn-leaf viewing) originates from the Heian period (794-1185). People took branches and hold them in their hands to admire them.

We will make a "Momiji Kanzashi"

In this lesson, we are going to make the Momiji kanzashi by using the "Maezashi" assembling technique which requires the high level technique of the craftsman.

You will learn two ways of the dyeing method to make colored Momiji leaves, how to make the Momiji leaf base, and how to make the base of the fan.
Making The Momiji Leaves
Here, you will learn how to make the Momiji leaves by using different sizes of cloth and how to make the small Momiji leaves for the fan.
Arranging Into A Kanzashi
Here, you will learn how to assemble the Momiji leaves by using the basics of the "Maezashi" (kanzashi for forehead) technique and how to apply to the comb.
