Sakura for Japanese
Sakura, cherry blossoms have been used in Japanese poems and patterns since ancient times, and are a special flower that symbolizes spring for Japanese people.
There is a legend that the god of the rice-plant resides in cherry blossoms and they were also used as a symbol of rich harvest. Therefore, cherry blossoms are often used as a flower for tsumami kanzashi.

We will make sakura petals by deforming the maru tsumami (round shaped tsumami).
There are many ways to make sakura, but we will introduce you the basic method.
Making The Sakura
You will learn how to dye square pieces of cloth and form them into sakura shape by deforming maru tsumami (round shaped tsumami).
Making The Sakura Buds
You will learn how to make buds by using artificial stamens and paper tape. It`s most easiest way of making buds!
Arrange Into Kanzashi
You will learn how to assemble flowers and buds, and arrange into small kanzashi by using paper tapes and U-shaped pin.
